Let’s start with a quick review. Facebook was founded in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg. He built the social networking platform out of his college dorm room as a platform, exclusively for Harvard University students. However, it was such a hit, that Zuckerberg quickly offered access to other universities in Boston. He then went on to provide access to other Ivy League schools and Facebook has not looked back since.
In 2006, Facebook opened up access to anybody over the age of 13. From there, its user growth has absolutely exploded.
Today, Facebook is the biggest social media site in the world with more than 2.23 billion people using it every month. To put things into perspective, that’s approximately one-third of the world’s population. To further understand the kind of reach it has, about 76% of Facebook users report that they use daily; 55% of users visit several times a day and 22% visit about once per day.
Facebook added a 100 million monthly active users from December 2017 to June 30, 2018. The number of active users grew from 2.13 billion to 2.23 billion in a span of six months. By the end of 2018, Facebook’s monthly active user count was 2.35 billion. Mark Zuckerberg announced reaching the 2 billion milestones in June 2018.

Facebook provides a platform that is good for news, entertainment-related content, updates of events, new places in the cities of the audience, news about one’s loved ones. However, Facebook Groups are a better way to engage your audience compared to Facebook Pages as group users can communicate and express their opinion more freely as compared to Pages.
